Founder story

Why Skarp exists?

I ran three companies with the needle in the red for a couple of years

Then my head stopped cooperating.

It was not dramatic

There was no single morning where everything fell over

It was slower than that

The mornings got heavier

I would read the same message three times and still not take it in

The calendar stayed full

My capacity did not

The hardest part was not being tired

It was the self-criticism that came with it

That is hard to put into words: you are trying to get things done, you wake up into another day, and moving between four different responsibilities feels impossible

If you are the kind of person who measures themselves by what they finish, you do not forgive yourself for that. You just push harder, which is exactly the wrong move

So I did what founders do with a problem they cannot delegate

I started reading

What I found

I spent evenings going through amino acids, vitamins and plant extracts, and then through the studies behind them

What I kept running into was not a lack of research

It was the gap between the research and what is actually sold

Supplements with forty ingredients on the label, most of them at doses far below anything a study had ever used

Proprietary blends that hide how little is in there

Big promises on the front of the jar, nothing on the back to support them

That gap and the desire to feel better became the reason to build this

The realisation that if I wanted a product where every ingredient was present at the amount the research actually used, I would have to make it

The two rules

Every ingredient at a real dose. Eleven actives. No fairy dust, no padding the label to look impressive

This is the entire reason Skarp exists, and it is the one thing I have refused to compromise

It has already been defended several times with different manufacturers when a smaller, cheaper serving was proposed

The answer both times was no

Never promise more than the product can do

Skarp will not make anyone superhuman

It does not fix sleep debt, and it does not replace the things that actually keep you well

Anyone who tells you a powder does that is selling something

We publish the full formula with the real doses, and we grade our own evidence honestly on the science page, including where it is still preliminary

Those two rules set the price

Clinical doses of good raw materials cost what they cost, so Skarp lands at the premium end of the category

I could have made it half the price by cutting the doses under the threshold where the research says anything happens

That product already exists, many times over. It was not worth building another one

Why there is no caffeine

Most founders I know start the day with coffee

I was not going to build a product that fights that

Skarp is designed to be taken before your first coffee, not instead of it

The L-theanine in the formula was chosen with that combination in mind

The point is not to add another stimulant to a day that already has plenty

It is to give the morning a better foundation

The part that nearly broke it

Taste.

Rhodiola is earthy and bitter, magnesium and B-vitamins bring their own metallic edge, and the doses are large because that was the whole premise

For months the samples were tolerable dry and unpleasant in water, which is how people actually drink it

Many, many, many rounds of samples. A lot of very direct feedback to a manufacturer who, to their credit, kept going

The easy fix was on the table the whole time: reduce the difficult ingredients

That would have solved the taste and destroyed the product

We fixed the flavour instead, and it took as long as it took

Raspberry and Orange, both approved, both mixed in water the way a customer will drink them

Where we are now

An investor came in

The manufacturer was chosen after a competitive process, from an EU facility with proper certification and full certificates of analysis for every raw material

The first batch is in production

Pre-orders are open

The strongest signal so far has not been any of that

It has been the messages

Dozens of people joined the waitlist from a single post, and entrepreneurs around Finland applied to the test group without being asked twice

Almost all of them said a version of the same thing

"I know exactly the morning you are describing"

That is the part I did not expect, and it is the part that keeps this moving.

Stay sharp people
